Sonic Riders DX is a mod for the GameCube version of the original "Sonic Riders" that is geared towards making the game the best it can be! This means massive overhauls to the game by adding mechanics, balancing stages and type shortcuts, revamping gear designs, and new characters and super forms!
However, the mod still keeps true the game's original gameplay. While new gear designs breathe new life into the gameplay, the fundamental mechanics of the game stay the same. Players will need to master Air management, tricks, drift dashes, and boosting, just like the original game.
Developed by Extreme Gear Labs, who were also the original team behind "Sonic Riders Tournament Edition".

Up to 15 characters are to be added to Sonic Riders DX!
Currently, 3 characters have been added thus far: Metal Sonic, Silver, and Chaos Zero.

Super Tails, Super Knuckles, Super Amy, Super Shadow, Neo Metal Sonic join the EX World Grand Prix!
Super Sonic can also evolve into Hyper Sonic, becoming more powerful, but need requiring more rings to maintain his strength.

The game loads immediately to the main menu with everything unlocked.
Over 100 new music tracks added to the game from other Sonic games and SEGA franchises.
Players can select the same character.
CPU are removed from "Free Race" for true 1v1 competition.
Sections where you would roll the control stick (known as Quick-Time Events) are automated.
Your exhaust trail becomes teal when your drift dash is fully charged.
Drift dashes can be further charged, causing your exhaust trail to become orange when overcharged, and pink when fully overcharged.
The timer is placed in the center of the screen during multiplayer races.
You can press the Y-Button to toggle the ability to ignore Turbulence and Pits. This is indicated by a purple exhaust trail.
After leaving a race, the game skips memory card checks and returns to Stage Select for fast access.
Dash Panels and the Speed Shoes item increase the player's speed rather than slowing them down by setting their speed.
Players no longer lose all of their rings when falling out of the map or when attacked.
Power Objects respawn almost instantly during Power-Type mirror matches. This makes Power mirror matches less one-sided.
Deceleration no longer increases based on maximum speed, meaning it works the same at all levels. This enables "Boost Chaining", an advanced technique, to usable at all levels instead of level 1.
A new catchup mechanic, Slipstream, was added to the game. Similar to its implementation in "Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity", players begin to accelerate while following behind their opponent.

Stages load the same rings, item boxes, power objects, etc. as they would in single-player while in multiplayer. This fixes many stages that had less resources in their multiplayer versions.
Type Shortcuts have been balanced across every stage to make every type a viable pick for each stage.
The glitches exclusive to certain stages have been fixed.

Every gear has been changed to either balance existing concepts or introduce completely new gameplay styles.

Every gear can be used by every single character. Even characters who could not previous use certain types of gears can use every gear, using a replica in the type of gears they can use.
"Sonic Riders Tournament Edition?" What's that?
"Sonic Riders Tournament Edition" (SRTE) was another competitive mod that was developed by the Extreme Gear Labs team and the predecessor to "Sonic Riders DX".
Up until December 2020, the development team for SRDX had worked on SRTE. The loose structure of development from starting as a fan project by a group of friends facilitated constant harassment and abuse from SRTE's self-proclaimed "director". After years of this, the dev team unanimously decided to continue our work elsewhere. We changed the name to disassociate from that individual, who uses the mod to build himself a brand based on taking credit for and making money off of our work, as well as other wrongdoing.
Every patch of "Sonic Riders Tournament Edition" up to and including "Sonic Riders Tournament Edition v1.3" was developed by Extreme Gear Labs, with "Sonic Riders DX v1.0" being the next update. The latest version of Sonic Riders DX is 2.1, which you can download now!
